Negotiation Assistance ADR
Negotiation assistance may be appropriate in situations where both parties are willing to negotiate and there is some likelihood of reaching a negotiated settlement. Negotiation assistance is the most interactive type of ADR at GAO, as parties will take an active role in discussing settlement possibilities. In negotiation assistance ADR, the GAO attorney handling the case will act as a facilitator to assist the parties in arriving at a mutually agreeable settlement. Any settlement reached will be voluntary and GAO will not “sign off” or otherwise review any settlement.
